Exercise ECG

Exercise ECG

What is an Exercise ECG?

An Exercise ECG, also known as a stress test, is a diagnostic procedure that records the electrical activity of your heart while you are physically active, usually on a treadmill. This test helps evaluate how well your heart is functioning under physical stress and can detect abnormalities such as irregular heart rhythms or blockages in the coronary arteries.

What to expect:

The test is conducted in our consulting rooms with a technician and a supervising cardiologist. Initially, resting ECG measurements will be taken to establish a baseline. You will then be asked to walk for up to 10 minutes, gradually increasing the intensity. During this time, your heart’s electrical activity will be continuously monitored. After the exercise, additional measurements are taken to observe how your heart recovers.

What to bring:

  • Wear two-piece clothing that is comfortable and loose-fitting.
  • A loose-fitting gown will be provided if needed.
  • Wear comfortable, enclosed footwear.
  • Bring a list of your medications.
  • Bring a list of past medical procedures.
