Having grown up on Sydney’s north shore, Dr Allahwala graduated from the University of New South Wales with first class honours and went on to complete his cardiology training and interventional fellowship at Royal North Shore Hospital. He completed his PhD at the University of Sydney in complex atherosclerotic disease processes and the role of the coronary collateral circulation.
Dr Allahwala has clinical focus in coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, heart failure, arrhythmias and cardiovascular screening to prevent heart disease. He is driven to provide the best care to his patients and prides himself on spending time with his patients to explain more about their heart health.
He is skilled in non-invasive assessment including interpretation of CT coronary angiography, echocardiography and stress testing, along with invasive assessment and treatment with coronary angiography and intervention. He is skilled at performing diagnostic angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention (commonly known as stenting) as well as the use of adjunct technology including coronary physiology and intravascular imaging.
In addition to Dr Allahwala’s clinical expertise, he has a strong background in research having published more than 50 peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters. He is a senior lecturer at the university of Sydney and regularly supervises medical students and junior doctors.
